COMPOSING AND ARRANGING
Music for Live and Digital Media
I have extensive experience as both a composer and arranger in a variety of styles; I have composed and arranged a diverse variety of musical works, ranging from classical ensembles such as string quartet, brass band, choir, and symphony orchestra, to jazz band, rock groups, and even music for film and other media. My compositions and arrangements have been performed in Canada, the U.S.A., the U.K., Italy, Germany, and South Korea.
Copying and Transcribing
I’ve made a name for myself in the music industry in Toronto as a copyist, after working alongside some of the most prominent professors. Examples of my work have been included in published papers and books, such as "Formal functions in perspective: essays on musical form from Haydn to Adorno" (2015), by Steven Vande Moortele, Julie Pedneault-Deslauriers, and Nathan John Martin. I have also collaborated with Roy Thomson Hall to transcribe lead sheets for the Learning English Through Song (LETS) community outreach programme, which brings together teaching artists and newcomers to Canada.
Guitar, Music Theory, Musicianship, Composition, and Counterpoint
I have extensive experience as an award–winning educator. I have taught electric and classical guitar both privately and through the Cosmo School of Music, and I have also tutored highschool and university students in music theory, in order to prepare them for RCM or university examinations. I have also worked as a teaching assistant at the University of Toronto, teaching both music theory and musicianship, and as a music teacher at the Smart Abacus summer school, for which I won two teaching awards.
Electric and Classical Guitarist
I have performing experience as both an electric guitarist, both as a soloist and playing in ensembles such as guitar orchestras, big bands, chamber groups, pit bands, and rock groups.
